I read a blog post a while ago about blog posts, and they said to keep it quality even if you post once a month.
As you can tell, I’ve let that get to my head.
Sigh.
{This is where I tell you why I haven’t written here in a month, so feel free to skip if you strongly dislike me telling you how much I’ve procrastinated on this one essay, along with other pathetic excuses.}
I’ve started a story.
It’s going wonderful.
By wonderful, I mean:
- I have not once given up. (yet)
- I have not complained about it. (yet)
- I have started without an outline, and I have only panicked 98 times about where my story was going.

Other excuses include:
- The Cricket World Cup has started, and I have been keeping up with it to the point where I have lost sleep because of timezones.
- The above is a lie.
- I have actually decided to not jump on the bandwagon for once, and I’m highly enjoying not having to pretend I know what’s going on.
- If anyone asks, the team I am supporting is losing.
- In the rare occurrence that they may be winning, yes, I am still feeling sorry for the opposing team.
- ...
- I have been caught up in my story.
- (By “caught up,” I mean that there’s only twelve pages so far and I’ve only just finalized the protagonist's name.)
- It took me a long time to think of the name.
- I’m just kidding, I took it directly from another book.
- But it is a name, so I’m still contemplating whether I have a chance for being sued of copyright.
- ...
- I have a research paper due in two days.
- I still have to edit my outline.
- I’ve never written an outline, and thus had to refer to a website from the 1990’s to help me out.
- It still helped, so I won’t judge the 90’s.
- ...
- I had a dentist appointment.
- I had to mentally prepare myself for that a week beforehand.
______________________________________________________________________________(I will be adding more to that later on.)
Nevertheless, I have to write a long, long essay on Hybrid Cars. I chose the topic myself, because I think it’s interesting, but I am pretty sure that by the time I am done I will probably never want to hear the words, “Hybrid Cars,” for the next month or so.
Research papers sometimes make me uninterested of the topic when I’m done writing them.
Another thing with Research papers is that they have to be top-notch MLA Format, and last year, my brother refused to tell me that there was an easy way to cite websites.
He wanted me to put effort into it.
The only thing I learned from that is that approximately 99% of the websites out there do not have a publishing date. I had to literally scour the websites, and then I found out that you can mention that it is “not listed.”
This year though, I overheard my friend talking about easybib.com, and boy, I am having so much fun with this.
I have also realized that a full citation, complete with all the required info, without any missing dates is one of the most satisfactory things in life.
I had to do one Research Paper last year too, and I did it on George Ferris, the man who made the Ferris Wheel.
Of ALL people.
I don’t mean to offend this person or anything, but there’s very limited knowledge of him in the world. I used a website and trusted it 400% for its information, and basically used two websites for my entire report. The other website I used was Wikipedia, and if anyone has anything to say about this, I am going to tell you now that I got a good grade for it and it has already been turned in, as of last year.
I can’t remember anything I wrote except for the fact that he built the Ferris Wheel and his first name was George, so all that writing of his biography was just for a grade. (And to learn how to cite websites without a citing website.)
Sigh.
Although, now, I’m always prepared for this. If they ever stop me on the street and ask, “Quick! Who built the Ferris Wheel?” I am ready.
First, I will mentally pat myself on the back for choosing such a topic. Secondly, I will remember I’m in public and not supposed to be patting myself on the back (even though it is internally) and take a deep breath. Everyone around me will think,”Oh no, she doesn’t know the answer.” Then, as my time limit ticks down, I will wait for the second they yell, “ZERO!” And then, I will smirk slyly and will yell right back at them, “GEORGE! GEORGE DIDDLY-DARN FERRIS BUILT THE FERRIS WHEEL!!”
Sigh.
One can dream.
